How to keep nuggets crispy in lunch box
To keep homemade nuggets crispy in lunch box:
1. Use Panko Breadcrumbs: Try using panko for a crispier texture or make bread crumbs without brown crust and mix corn flakes with bread to make crumbs to give good texture.
2. Double Coating: After the first egg and breadcrumb coating, dip the nugget back in the egg and coat it with breadcrumbs again. This thicker coating helps lock in moisture and creates a crispier outer layer.
3. Pre-toast the Breadcrumbs: Lightly toast your breadcrumbs in a pan with a bit of oil before using them. This will reduce the moisture they absorb when frying and make the nuggets crispier.
4. Let the Nuggets Cool Completely: Before packing, allow the nuggets to cool down on a wire rack or strainer. Packing hot nuggets will cause condensation, leading to sogginess.
5. Use Cornstarch or Flour: Dust the nuggets lightly with cornstarch or flour before dipping them in the egg wash. This creates a dry surface that helps the coating adhere and stay crispy.
6. Fry at the Right Temperature: Make sure the oil is hot enough (around 350°F or 175°C) when frying. Low temperatures cause the coating to absorb oil and become soggy.
7. Don't Overcrowd the Pan: Fry in small batches to avoid lowering the oil temperature, which can cause the nuggets to turn soggy.
